What the heck is a “Travelogue”?
You know how some people don’t like certain words? For example, ‘moist’ or ‘sneakers’ seem to be off-putting to a lot of people (and yet I’ve put them out there for all the world to read). Well, ‘blog’ is a word I don’t care for.
When I hear the term ‘travel blog’ I conjure up sites that have the “Top 10 Places to Visit This Year”, “Packing Lists for Alaska”, or “Best Way to Spend 3 Days in Miami” posts. They seem to share their expertise on various travel related topics.
Newsflash: I am not a travel blogger. Its probably why I’ve resisted starting this project for so long because I couldn’t get past the mental roadblock of what a blog contains.
I stumbled across the word ‘Travelogue’ and its like a lightbulb went off and all was right in my world. That paints the picture of what I envision this site being: A travel log.
I found this definition for travelogue: A travelogue is a written or visual presentation that describes the experiences, adventures, and observations of a traveler during their journey to different places. It typically includes details about the destinations visited, the people encountered, the culture and customs experienced, as well as personal reflections and impressions. Travelogues can be in the form of books, articles, blogs, videos, or documentaries, and they serve as a way for individuals to share their travel experiences with others.
That folks, that is what this BLOG is going to be all about! I couldn’t find a more apt description if I tried.
So now you know. Carry on.
Cheers,
Jen
